Coercive diplomacy?

The Pulwama terror attack has brought coercive diplomacy into the public discourse. It must be handled with caution.

Coercive diplomacy? There is a need to differentiate it from ‘gunboat’ diplomacy!

The article ignores the effect from all sides. In reality, aims have not been achieved, except in a rhetorical verbal conflict, where one can say that Mr Modi has raised the ante.

I heard another discussion on YouTube where the importance of intent and ability was discussed relevant to the Pulwama incident and results.

In my opinion, it has brought out two gains for the government, pre-election popularity and changing from ground action to air strikes. The capability aspect is under question as there is militaryly no post-operation credibility.

Mr Modi’s adversaries will latch on to it. Crying wolf has its disadvantages over the longer term.

A decisive short conflict may have yielded better results for intent and capability.
